Proverbs 19:11

Good sense makes a man slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 19:11

It is soothing to the soul and nourishing to the spirit within us to avoid at all cost feeling insulted. Refuse to be insulted by anyone around you who is careless or ignorant in his or her expression. We do have a choice as how we are going to react. I personally find it extremely gratifying and advantageous not to take offense because it keeps my communion with the Lord uninterrupted.

It is not by any means easy. In fact, the natural reaction is to get offended or angry. But, it is worth the effort, and if f we want to do it, the precious Holy Spirit is always ready to help us. For myself, I simply try to meditate on what has happened. Try to go a little deeper into what is really going on in the inside of this person. Usually, the Lord graciously gives me some insight into what the other person is going through. Usually, when a person is unkind or offensive, they are in pain. They are probably unaware of it, and consequently act out these feelings without realizing what is really motivating them to do this. But remember that they are in pain. This is when we need to remember the everlasting mercy. Jesus teaches us to be the healers of pain, not the causes of pain. Refraining from angry outbursts is important to me if I am to keep the precious peace the Lord has given me and the satisfaction of having done the will of my Heavenly Father.
