Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3

How little we think about this great truth! How very busy we have become with our daily lives. Most of us, most of the time, don't even think about God as our maker. Those times when we do say it, we don't really think about it. If we did, it would truly make such a big difference in our lives. And it would be obvious. If in fact we were to think and meditate on this great truth, our lives would be quite different.
To begin with, there would be a lot less tension and stress. These are nowadays as popular as the common cold. And we have accepted these traits in our daily lives almost without question. This situation seems to be here to stay. In fact, most people just live in this miserable state most of the time and can't imagine differently.
And then, of course, there is the weakness of race, the fragile human race that we all seem to be a part of ... constantly negotiating that driving force which dominates our earthly lives: the will to power. The need to control. That desire to be on top of things. To be (or appear to be) acceptable, admirable and yes, maybe even enviable: all those external things that we think will validate us, all those things that we think will give us a sense of worthiness. It is all too human to seek physical proof that justifies our existence to ourselves.
What a shame! Such posturing is not what we were created for. Our God had something else in mind when He made us. He had intentions of having a family, a godly family. A happy, peaceful, joyful family. Children with His character. Children who would build together, sing together, get along and watch out for each other. How elusive that divine goal seems from the human perspective! How very hard it is for most of us to live a godly life. It is almost like swimming against the currents, the currents of worldly society and its rules of conduct. However, we should at least try. If we don't do it for others, we should do for ourselves.
The best guarantee way to feel good about yourself is to do something good for someone else. He who really does unto others as he wishes they would do unto him is truly wise, for he is investing in his own happiness. The Word says that we will most definitely reap what we sow. There is no better way to assure ourselves of peace, contentment and joy, than to share with others the good things our Lord has deposited into our hearts. Give freely what has been freely given. Remember then that we are all His children, His precious children, whom He lovingly awaits for in heaven to share.
Obviously in order for us to be His children, we must first be offically adopted. Just a we go through a procedure to adopt children ourselves, here on earth, so our Lord has established His divine procedure. In the bible Jesus says clearly in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth and the light; no one comes to the Father, but through me." Then and only then shall we enjoyed forevermore all those wonderful, unimaginable things He has prepared for us from the beginning of time. It all awaits us, what are we waiting for?
